On the 23rd, we had a Spaghetti Western night at the lodge. We were all entertained by Tombstone Mick who is very fun to listen to. All who attended had a great meal and a great time. On the 28th, District Deputy Grand Exalted Ruler Dianna Adams visited out lodge. ADD visits all lodges in their district to ensure lodges are operating within Grand Lodge statutes and to assist in areas where needed. There is a lot of behind the scenes preparation for the visit by the officers of the lodge most notably the Secretaries and Treasurers. All the officers and committee chairs are required to produce written reports of their duties and activities and to attend a meeting with the District Deputy. And of course, the protocol is on display when the District Deputy attends a lodge meeting complete with an initiation ceremony. Thank you all who helped make her visit a memorable one.

I want to remind you of the importance of the “Elks Donate Life” program adopted by Grand Lodge this year. Organ donors are desperately needed and Elks have stepped up to the plate. It is very easy to register as a donor online and I encourage everyone to consider signing up. We do get credit towards All American Lodge for participation, so if and when you do sign up, please notify our coordinator Sig Danielson.

 Calling all ElKs

Our next collection date is Wednesday, October 11th at 1 PM on the back patio.

Rewarding   Friendship   Fun

Greetings fellow Elks! Another month is gone and time seems to be flying by. I hope this finds you all well and anticipating cooler fall weather as I am. September had a few events and happenings at the lodge. One of the neatest things we do, in my opinion, occurs on Patriots Day, September 11th. Ten different fire stations in the Oro Valley, Catalina, and Saddlebrooke area received turkey dinners with all the trimmings of mashed potatoes, gravy, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, and pies. We have been doing this for several years and it is greatly appreciated by the firefighters we honor this way. It is a very fitting way to say thank you to these folks for what they all did back on that day in 2001 and what they all do every day for us. Special thanks to all of the Elks who volunteered to cook and deliver these meals.

Sundays are more active at the lodge in the lounge thanks to the NFL package which has been provided by the PER Association. A variety of lunches are planned by several volunteers at a nominal cost, and of course, any team you want to follow will be on one of the TV’s in the lounge. We have a fantasy football league as well, thanks to Mandy who organized it. And if you haven’t had one of her “Mandy Marys”, you are missing a treat.
